.::: To Stellenbosch :::. Sunday, August 31, 2008

I had taken a few snapshots before , during , and after my flight to Stellenbosch.

I had mixed feelings on the day of my flight ; 27th Aug 2008 - Excited at first, Panic when it's time to say goodbye, Mind asking lots of questions when I am alone, in awe when i see the beautiful town of Stellenbosch, Lonely when it's time to sleep.

At home before going to KLIA
With my baby Rainbow.

Happy Family

At the airport:

First time checking in at Business Class , minus the long queue.

Lao gong and me - Missing each other for the next 6 months.
Forgot to ask him to sign a copy of 'perjanjian' to be good for these 6 months. Haha
But i am glad to have a boyfriend whom i can trust fully, without me worrying. =)

Mum called a lot of times too, must be worrying as usual =)
I asked her not to come to KL, no point coming all the way to say bye.
I prefer them to be here when i am coming back home!
After kissing goodbye to my lao gong , i proceed to scan my bags. Luckily for me, the alarm didnt go off when i pass the scan. I thought that my braces will trigger off the alarm, luckily it didn't hehe.
I have to take the train to go my Gate C16.

Almost empty train at 1am.

As i went searching for my Gate, i noticed a couch area with many people, mainly guys, glued onto the TV.

Curious, i go nearer to see what are they so intensely watching.

Answer : Football. -.-

In the plane, this is how the business class area looks like. A big shell for you to sleep on, with personal TV which has a lot a lot of movies, can play games such as Sudoku, chess, Kong, etc. Even a collection of songs from classical to rock music.

The space seat:

The LCD TV cum Playstation cum Discman

One thing i love most of being in Business Class is that they keep giving us hot towels!
Very nice and soothing to put a hot towel over your face, feels so much fresher and cleaner.
And also the blanket is very warm although it looks thin.

Meanwhile, the food they served is neverending.

My plane stops at Johannesberg and then to Cape Town, where it will then continue its flight to Buenos Aires.
The plane stopped over at Johannesberg at about 11am Malaysian Time (5am local time) for 1 1/2 hours where they also changed the air crew.
I didn't wanna go down and risk missing my flight as it's just gonna be 45mins walking around Johannesberg airport anyway. So i chose to watch PauPau movie that i have copied to my laptop.

A peek at Johannesberg:

Guess what? Snow-capped mountain!!

About 1 1/2 hours later, finally.. Cape Town.

The view was breathtaking, so pretty that it looks fake on camera.

Happy Me:

The steel bird - Boeing 777 which flew me halfway across the globe.

There are two buses waiting for us, one for those getting out at Cape Town,
Another for those who will be continuing the flight to Buenos Aires.
I managed to get my 27.6kg luggage out from the belt and at the customs check, luckily i have my returned flight itenary printed out as well. Or else i will not be able to get through.
I also noticed that almost all of them chose the 'Nothing to declare' lane, but i followed Yin's advice to choose the 'Items to declare' lane.
When asked, i told them that i have Instant noodles and medicine in my luggage Hehe.
Then the lady-officer kept asking me,
"No pork?" "No, no pork."
"No beef?" "No, no beef."
"No pork?" "No, no pork."
-.-
There's a guy holding the BATSA logo, once i have cleared the custom check.
This guy is Iben, who drives a black Mercedes Benz to fetch me.
He is very friendly, and keeps on talking throughout the 20 mins drive to Stellenbosch.
Stellenbosch, here i come!

.::: Missing Home :::. Saturday, August 30, 2008

Hi from Stellenbosch.
I am now in an Internet Cafe, outside the hypermarket Checkers (Looks like Carrefour.. mmm higher class abit, like Cold Storage). Internet cafe charges are 20Rand for an hour. That's about RM10. Kanasai. Really pokai this few days.

This is my first day walking out alone, in an unknown place, unfamiliar roads.
The buildings here are so pretty, like the buildings i see in movies. I keep thinking, i wish there is someone i can share with.
I think i will love it a lot, the weather, the sceneries. if someone is here to share with me.
I have the nicest apartment to stay, but i don't feel at home without the people in it.
I miss my Dear, i miss mum and dad, i miss rainbow, i miss my sisters, i miss the rest of you >.<

I have lots of photos, but quite rush today... might online back tomorrow. Will update here then!

.::: Shopping Spree :::. Friday, August 22, 2008

Caution : Long Post

Wow. It has been a week.

As promised, (although i know a bit late lar) , gonna blog about my marathon shopping spree.

I have my RM1000 allowance to buy winter clothing prior to my trip to South Africa, but in such a short time, it's so hard to find anything!

It's always like that.... when u want to find Winter Clothing, u won't be able to find nice ones.
But when you are not looking for it, everywhere you see are thick clothings not fit to be worn in Malaysia. Then you will say "Where got people wear so thick in Malaysia wan.. got people buy meh" -.- Agree?

So last Saturday, me and Jen tried to walk around Times Square and Sungai Wang area to see if we have any luck. There was Winter Time (or was it Universal Travels) at Times Square. But the winter clothings there are those very thick and wooly and 'moh moh' coat. Too khua cheong for me... Did not manage to buy anything on Saturday.

The next day, we continued our 'Quest to Buy Winter Clothing'. This time we went to Midvalley.

We found one from Nautica, the store which is hiding at the corner.
They have really nice winter clothings for men there and only limited choices for women.
At last i found one, the material is very good and it does not look bulky. They have it in Beige and Black. I wanted to buy the Beige one as i don't want too many dark and plain jackets, but they only have the M and L size. The XS size fits better on me so no choice, take the black one.
Before i buy, i turn over the price tag. RM400+ ! !!!@#@!$#@$#$@$@#
but with 60% discount, only at RM167.
Wah, super tatt! Buy!

Nautica

Next we went to Topshop,MNG,and at last found another nice one at Zara.
But it's pricier at RM340. "No Discount for Winter Clothings Section", according to the salesgirl >.<
Zara

This one is another thick jacket that is not bulky. They have another layer inside too that is tighter to keep us warm.
Zoom in to get a better view of it.

Jen starting to get bored and tired after some time. Kesian him have to accompany me shopping haha.
It was already 3pm without us realising it. Or maybe it is just me that did not realise it, Jen's super duper hungry. We decided to eat at Madam Kwan's because the usual Ikan Panggang that we normally eat at Food Court always have a long queue.

I especially love the Cendol from Madam Kwan's.
They actually give you a whole full cup of Gula Melaka to pour on the Cendol.
But the Midvalley outlet's Gula Melaka is not as thick as the one in Pavillion.
Prefer the one in Pavillion, don't forget to order this Cendol when you happen to dine at Madam Kwan's!
Err... this is the picture of the almost finished Cendol. Forgot to take the picture of it before we eat, too yummy!

The Gula Melaka to pour into the Cendol:

Dear ordered this Nasi Bonjari. He likes it a lot, always order them in Madam Kwan's.

The egg from Dear's Nasi Bonjari. Two yolks!

I ordered Fish and Chips. It came out not as what i have in mind. Not the usual Fish and Chips.

The inside of my fishie :

I don't really like the Fish and Chips. Don't particularly like anything from Madam Kwan's except ... the Cendol!!

Later, we walked opposite of Midvalley to The Gardens.
The shops which has winter clothings there are more in the higher end... one clothing RM1500 -.-""
While walking along the spacious Gardens, suddenly i see this!

Scary prop.

Then this,

Okay, this is not bad.. It's actually quite cute.. But wait, while walking around...we met this staring at us....

Beside him,

Gardens scaring us away, with the price and with the decos. Nothing much at Gardens , hmmm let me rephrase that. Nothing much that fit my budget at Gardens, so we went back to Midvalley.

We went back to Zara, and bought this gray-coloured overcoat .
It's much pricier at RM400+. No discount for Winter clothings at Zara, remember? :(
But it was really much better than the ones at Winter Times or at Universal Travels. Those are ugly and expensive too....
Hmm quite hard to take picture of dark clothings, they actually look much nicer in real.

I also bought two shoes, because the only covered shoes i have is my Guess sport shoes, gift from Jen's mum. And if it is going to be cold in South Africa, i have to make sure my feet are kept warm and cosy.
At last i bought these two shoes from Hush Puppies. One for work, and another casual one. They are both so comfortable, especially the casual one.
Both Yin and Jen agreed to sponsor me RM100 each. Muax!

The casual pair:

The more serious look:

The paddings in the comfy shoe:

Whoa, after that, we rushed back to watch the badminton match between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.
This is our 'hasil kerja' after 8 hours of shopping.

How did I manage to shop for 8 hours straight?!
By having a lovely boyfriend.

Who can help me massage my legs at The Gardens. =')

ehhhhh

why all black wan!?!?!?

By Blogger min, at August 25, 2008 3:06 PM

Anonymous: ....
Min: Wrong! One of them is grey.. haha
Yea i actually wanted more bright colours but they said dont have, for Zara. That season either black, gray or brown. Ngam ngam the one i like brown not nice =(
For Nautica, got black and beige, but beige left only XL
haih...

.::: Dell Inspiron 1420 Arrived - The Green Baby :::. Saturday, August 16, 2008

Dell actually called last Monday to tell me that my laptop will be arriving on Tuesday. But as me and Jen will not be at home on a weekday during working hours, Dell agreed to deliver to me on a weekend instead. No extra charges =) They actually assemble and got the laptop ready to deliver from the date i ordered in less than a week! Wow!

Today i drove myself to the orthodontics. I repeat. I drove MYSELF to the ortho near KLCC. (proud).
It is actually because i got no choice, someone got to be at home to wait for the delivery guy =.=. I was only told that the laptop will arrive before 2pm and my ortho appointment was at 11am. So no choice lor... asked Jen to teach me how to go there the night before. By the time i came back at about 12 something, the laptop still not here.....

It finally arrived at 1.30pm. One big box.

Rainbow loves boxes. She likes to go into boxes and sleep in there. She feels safe inside a closed area i guess.

There is one sub-box inside the big box. Inside are all the installation CDs, including the genuine Windows Vista, McAfee, and a lot more, lazy to list out :S

The laptop itself, my Green Baby =)

Told you Rainbow loves boxes. She is resting her head on the box, she likes to rest her chin on boxes, pillows, my arm.

Opening the lid,

I didn't expect Dell to include a free mouse as well. The mouse is bluetooth wireless mouse. Wah, so high tech.

They also include a remote control where u can control your laptop when u are watching movie / playing songs. The remote control can be kept at the side of the laptop.

Bigger view:

Inserting it into the side of the laptop:

I don't have have much time to spend on my laptop this weekend, but until now I'm very satisfied with the performance of it. Not too many things installed on it yet anyway. But 3G is RAM will be of course better than my previous 1G.
The speakers from laptop is pretty loud, the touchpad is sensitive, screen is big and clear, keypad is good to type on.
Might do a review of it when i have the free time, maybe when i'm in South Africa when i feel lonely at night >.>

But the internet there is by usage, not by month. About RM180 for 2G bytes of usage.Argh! That's the thing i dread most in SA.

.::: Approved! :::. Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Finally my Visa is done, they took just less than a week to process it!

But they need so many documents to be submitted and the lady in the South African Embassy is so unfriendly and bossy. Her service is really bad and she never smiles. Really wish to complain about her but it seems that she is the only one working at the counter there... scared later she don't want to approve my Visa :P

Also, my Line Manager just approved my winter clothing allowance.
But don't really know anywhere nice to buy nice winter clothings. Most will tell me Universal Travels or Winter Time only.... I also know there got winter clothings la woi..... =.= Any more nice recommendations?

Now just waiting my Line Manager to confirm the date to fly there, tentatively on 27th August which is sooo soon!
Excited and nervous too!

.::: Nail Art @ Nail Job Studio :::. Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Today i had Nail Art done on my fingernails @ Nail Job Studio, Avenue K.

The last time i went to a Nail Salon, their choices are not as pretty as this shop's. From the sample of nails that she showed me, a lot of them are very pretty and unique. The prices ranged from RM3 to RM5 per finger, depending on the effort needed. Some are only nail art and some are nail art with decorating stones.
I finally chose a RM4 design.

The lady, Hazel, started by shaping my nail with an emery board. I don't like my nails to be too long, it tends to get dirt stuck on it easily but don't like it to be too short either. I like my nails to be as long as what a french manicure looks like.

After shaping my nail, she gently pushed back my cuticles using a cuticle stick. Then she checked for hang nails (broken bits of dry skin around the nails ) and cut those away with cutters. While she is doing my right hand, my left hand was soaked in a warm water with something in it that is supposed to clean your nails and to soften it too.

My hand is later moisturized with a cream until my elbow. She even massaged my hand and fingers! After that , a type of oil is applied on my fingers (Forgot to ask what is it for)

She then started on painting my nails. She asked whether i prefer light or dark colours. I personally never tried dark colours before because I'm scared that it will look too "hiong" or too old. She then assured me that dark colours are actually not old-looking and it makes the design stand out more. So, i finally decided to try the dark colour, if not, wasted lah the design cannot see... haha!

Firstly she put a base coat before putting on two coats of Very Dark Brown-Purplish nail polish on my fingers. After drying, she took a box of Nail Art Acrylic Paint and use the white colour to draw the design i wanted. She asked me if i want it on all fingers or only on the thumbs. I asked her to draw on the thumbs first then only i decide.
After finishing the two thumbkins, i told her to have only very small designs with the rest of the fingers unlike the elaborate thumb design.
Finally when all is done, she painted the base coat on all my nails again.

I was then asked to put my nails under a nail dryer. The wind from the fan feels so cold in the aircond room. My fingers are freezing, but have to lah, because although the top layer is dry, the insides are still not. Lastly, a drop of oil on each finger.

All in all, i was at the salon for 1 1/2 hours. I did not expect that long!
The results :

My thumb

The rest of the fingers

The colour looks different in the photos hmm...
Cost : RM 4 each for the thumbs , RM 3 each for the rest of the fingers.

.::: GOLLA :::. Sunday, August 10, 2008

Watched Dark Knight again, this time with Jen at Berjaya Times Square. We actually went there yesterday midnight but the tickets are sold out so we bought tickets for today instead. And this time, i made sure i noticed Edison Chen lol. I am no fan of his, but it's very funny to see a HongKong famous actor acting as a keh-leh-feh . Hehe. I can understand the movie better especially at the beginning part better after watching the second time though.

After the movie, we went to look around for a Laptop bag that is big enough to fit in two laptops. I need a laptop like that to bring to South Africa. We walked around and most laptop bags that are with good quality with sponges surrounding it are roughly around RM130-RM200.
We surveyed around in 6-7 shops, some are with good quality but ugly, some are pretty but just like a normal bag with no protections for laptops and some cannot put in two laptops.

At last I settled for a Golla bag.
First of all, it passed my first most important criteria which is to fit in two laptops with good protection.
Secondly, it is a backpack.
Third, it is big enough inside, but looks compact and small from outside.
Fourth, the outlook is nice.

The price is at the higher side though at RM180. The original price was RM240, but it was on promotion for RM190. Then with high negotiation skills, settled at RM180 with a free pouch. Didn't expect to get a discount from a big shop like that, but i try to make sure i ask for discounts and free items before paying for them. =)
Well, it has a lifetime warranty for the straps, zips or tears. They will actually give a one to one exchange and not repairing them. Wonderful, right?

Guess what colour is the bag that i bought?

GREEN !! Loving funky green =) Recently bought a lot of green items : My luggage bag, My laptop , and now this!

These are the zippers are the top of the bag. The zips are closed up unlike our normal zips. This is to prevent water from seeping through and also it looks a lot more nicer! :D Don't think my picture is clear enough but lazy to retake a closer one -__-. Try clicking on the picture itself to get a better view of what i mean by 'hidden zip'!

The place to keep/hide the zip holders:

The compartments to keep the laptops :

The another compartment to keep laptops or clothes or whatever:

(oops forgot to take the pic of it, never mind.. next!)

The back view of the bag :
Isn't it lovely? Say YES or I'll cry.

Ooops light behind makes me become AH NEH NEH.

I dunno why i have this phobia of driving. Must be Mummy passing the phobia to me :( NOT MY FAULT! =)
Anyway i still don't really dare to drive everywhere in KL. KL cars are soo fast at the highway. I'm only used to driving at 60-80 kmh in Penang.

I dislike driving!! IM SCARED!!! I prefer to be drived driven =) Smart choice.

.::: Sundays are always too short :::. Sunday, August 03, 2008

Sundays are always too short for me.
At least today, I don't have much plan for this Sunday. My last few weeks of Sundays is all full of plans and activities that need to get done with. Sometimes i pity my Dear to have to drive me here and there with all my plans. Like me going back to Penang, fetching Rainbow for grooming, surveying for laptop prices, buying my luggage, and the list goes on. I LOVE MY DEAR!!! =)

Oh ya, me and Jen met up with Wooi Min and his boyfriend (Wei Hooi Leong), and also Yuen and his boyfriend (John). Never met up with their boyfriends b4. Although it's only for two hours, I feel that there are a lot of things that we can share and talk about , maybe I don't really want to talk too much in case their boyfriends have no idea what we are talking about and might get bored haha. Imagine the poor guys got to listen to three sampat girls talking non stop of how much their old schoolmates have changed when they have absolutely no idea who are they hehe.

Well, today i woke up with nothing much to do, happy that I have a day to rest. Woke up with my 'morning call' barking away with her tail wagging happily to see me awake =) I can't never be angry at her cute and manja ways hehe.

Rainbow will automatically roll over when you walk pass her. Waiting for you to rub her tummy hehe. Rolling over like this -

My morning was spent lazing away in front of the computer, watching DVD and nua nua on the bed.
Me and dear went to Carrefour - main reason to buy toilet rolls and also to buy the ingredients to cook ABC Soup !! I LOVE ABC SOUP !! My recipe is the best of course :P Lots of carrots and tomatoes and onions , yummy! Just KIAM enough for a KIAM-POH like me. Ha!

All three of us have our stomachs bloated after finishing the ABC Soup. My stomach is at the maximum size, Dear is seriously thinking of exercising after looking at the size of his tummy and even Rainbow is exhausted after finishing two big chicken thighs.
Look at Rainbow resting under the table, too fat to move.

Take note of how her hands are positioned

The hands like that also she feels too heavy to move. Haha!

.::: PC Fair 1-4 Aug 2008 :::. Saturday, August 02, 2008

Today i went to the PC Fair at KL Convention Centre.
My, the crowd was sooo huge! It's so damn crowded, the walk itself to the convention centre is so long and tiring. They should really make an air-conditioned walkway all the way from Suria KLCC to the KL Convention Centre instead of us walking either through the carpark or passing by the KLCC Park.

Furthermore, you can see rubbish / flyers littered all over the park on the way to the convention centre. Very mensiasuikan especially when there are tourists there capturing pictures of our 'beautiful' park. Actually KLCC is really a place where we as Malaysians can be proud of. One can never forget the beautiful sight of our KLCC Twin Towers's night view, with all the white lights litting up the towers. Wow !

Ok, back to the topic. It was indeed a crowded day at KLCC. People from all walks of life is curious on what PC Fair has to offer, although to me it's almost the same as Low Yat's everyday price. And giving away stuffs that they can't sell out (Old stock eg. ugly mouse, mouse pad..) . Oh some may be because of the sexy models for the computer brands =) There are college students, mat sallehs, makcik-makcik, and even our Yang Di-Pertuan Agong decides to come and join in!! Ei.. the YDPA is not at the PC fair but saw his car parked outside Suria KLCC. A lot of high ranked traffic policeman is waiting outside. (High ranks gua.. cos saw a lot of stripes on their shoulders haha)

Notice the number plate? Wah... Only one emblem.. O.o

After our walk in the PC Fair (no shortcuts - got to walk into every hall -.- ), compared all the specs for all notebooks - finally decided that either the LowYat's Dell's booth or Ms Quinn's (Dell's Salesperson) has the best offer so far. Unfortunately Lowyat's only have the Black coloured one left so my final decision is to get directly from Dell. Can get a 'Spring Green' colour. I just realised that i keep buying summer green stuffs lately - first my luggage and then this.
Maybe because when i see that colour, it makes me feel fun, young and happy !! :D

Later, we went to Lowyat to see the specs again, then went for Sushi King for our late lunch/early dinner.
Jen forced me to take a pic of his scallop sushi ..

I love scallops too! But mostly eat them when they are in soups, or cooked with vege or fish.
Usually i eat the scallop round thing itself minus the curly skirt-lookalike surrounding it. So i took out the curly curly skirts and i eat the scallop - Jen will eat the skirts hehe.

I gave my credit card information to that Dell's salesperson later on. Today i spent more than RM3000 !!! AAAAAhhhhhhhh.... HArd earned money gone !! =(

.::: Dell Inspiron 1420? :::. Friday, August 01, 2008

I'm planning to get a laptop, went to Lowyat last week and the best offer i got so far for my price range is the Dell Inspiron 1420.

Sorry , no Fujitsu.. Macbook... for the same price, the specs are much lower.
These are the specs that i got for RM 3100.

Processor : Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1Ghz
Memory : 3 G

Hard Disk : 250 G

Graphic C : 128 MB 8400M

O.System : Vista Home Premium

Display : 14.1" WXGA True Life

Optical D : 8x DVDRW
Bluetooth : Yes

Wireless : Wireless 1395(b/g)

Warranty : 1 year NBD

Antivirus : McAfee 15months

Software : Works 9.0

Camera : Webcam 2.0

Battery : 6-cell

Case : Lightweight Case

Network : Ethernet 10/100

I actually can get a cheaper one for RM2699 but the processor is only T5850 with 2GB memory and graphic card GMX X3100. That will be a lot slower and i do think i need at least a T7XX processor. I want something that can replace my desktop, not just a laptop only to open documents. Meaning i will use it for multimedia use, surfing, chatting, video streaming, games maybe? =)

The spec given by the Dell's lowyat booth is actually cheaper than buying online. I have checked with the Dell's Call centre, the salesperson (Ms Quinn, who is very very nice and helpful) found out that the reason lowyat selling out cheaper (actual price : RM3699) because they have only two units left - only black colour . But it's a whole RM500 cheaper!!!
Ms Quinn also actually offered me this same model but with T7250 (as T8100 is not available in the market anymore ) for RM3299 with free 3-in-1 printer (worth RM250 she says), and i get to choose any colour i like ! But as i don't need a printer, i don't think i will go for it.

Today i will go to the PC Fair at KL Convention Centre, to look around before i decide!
